Just 5 minutes up the road by car is The Shops at Wailea which features more than 70 shops and restaurants, all set in an award-winning traditional / contemporary architectural style.
GOLF & TENNIS
Wailea Golf Course, offers a choice of three championship courses, the Blue, the Gold and the Emerald. The Blue Course has its own clubhouse with full-service pro shop and practice green. The Gold and Emerald Courses share an additional clubhouse with full-service pro shop and a training facility unlike any other in the state of Hawaii, featuring separate chipping and putting areas, a practice bunker and a driving range with three built-in target greens surrounded by traps.
Wailea Tennis Club has 11 paved courts (3 night-time courts) and has 5 tennis clinics per week from the 5 USPTA pros on staff.
BEACHES & SNORKELING
There is the beautiful Maluaka Beach just walking distance away. You can picnic, snorkel, bodyboard and swim by day and take moonlight walks at night. Bodyboards and some snorkeling equipment are available at the cottage.

Or visit the world famous Makena Big Beach (Oneloa Beach), a large white sand beach, that is a few minutes drive away. Big Beach is 2/3 mile long and over 100 yards wide. It is great for swimming, boogie-boarding, body-surfing, sunbathing and long beach walks.
A few miles beyond Big Beach, you can explore the protected La Perouse Bay which is located in the Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve. The entrance to the water is a bit rocky, but the snorkeling can be excellent during calm seas. The King's Highway, an ancient Hawaiian footpath, continues from the bay toward Cape Hanamanioa.
